To protect the embryos our culture system includes a layer of Embryo Culture Oil in each culture dish.

The media drops in which embryos grow is a very fragile environment and must be protected from changes. Evaporation, pH shift, influx of bacteria and loss of carbon dioxide and oxygen are all events that could easily stop the further development of a healthy embryo. To prevent these changes in environmental conditions and to protect the embryos both in and out of the incubator, our Austin IVF lab’s culture system includes a layer of oil in each culture dish. This culture oil is a mixture of paraffin oil and mineral oil that is tested for the presence of bacteria and chemical toxins as vigorously as our culture media.
